Yes, Republicans are saner than Dems
Gallup reports that 58% of Republicans rate their mental health as excellent. Sadly, this isn’t news. Everyone knows of the exceedingly high mental state of Conservatives. The real news in this survey is that a mere 38% of Democrats rate their mental health as excellent. I had no idea that so many liberals were aware that their mental health was so low.
PRINCETON, NJ — Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. ~gallup.com
The question is, of these 38% of Democrats how many are actually in denial about their failed state of mental health? 38% seems a bit too high if you ask me. If we were to compensate statistically (in like manner as Global Warming theorists do) we might set that figure much lower.

I think that you might be placing this into terms a little too black and white. I mean, I personally would not rate my mental health as excellent because I have been diagnosed with ADHD. However, that does not mean I do not have the mental faculty to make an intelligent observation and hold informed political beliefs, and so on. Then, there are many who would rate their mental health as excellent, who are really either in denial, or have deluded themselves into believing there is nothing wrong with them.
The truth is, you can’t make broad, sweeping statements based on people’s personal opinions of themselves.
As a counterexample, I might say that Democrats are less repressed and more willing to self examination, as shown by their more truthful response than the Republicans.
Everything is a matter of perception.

Actually, I just find it interesting to note that dems would self-rate themselves as having low mental health.
